Why can’t we boost SL tourism with the “Manike Mage Hithe” sensation?
Why can’t we boost SL tourism with the “Manike Mage Hithe” sensation?
Importance of associating with iconic music sensations like Yohani’s “Manike Mage Hithe” & its impact on Sri Lanka’s tourism.
“catchy tune”, “refreshing song” “cute singer” are compliments from other countries even without knowing the meaning of the songs by popular singer Yohani De Silva recently.
120 Million views within 4 months can’t be granted easily as it was the biggest hit done by a Sri Lankan artist for the 1st time ever.
In this scenario, there are plenty of opportunities open to plan out in order to boost many aspects in this difficult time. One of the main areas are, the tourism industry and the creative economy of Sri Lanka is in need of a boost while Sri Lanka is facing a severe foreign exchange crisis. But, thus far, strategists of relevant authorities see this as the biggest opportunity to grab the attention from the international markets, specifically from other Asian countries when this privilege is like a bolt from a blue.
Of course, I’m sure that India has already seen this opportunity as a Golden gift from Sri Lanka and The entertainment company “Zee Live” in India is ready to click on the show with Lankan sensation to Supermoon live show in India. Personally, I am humbled and excited to see our trendsetter perform on the international stage but at the same time, our so-called super leaders in the relevant authorities (Including private media) can associate with this star instead of spending unnecessary funds on various things.
The fact of the matter is, for the total revenue from SL Tourism in 2019, India and the rest of Asia has contributed 19.07% and 29.16% respectively (Annual statistical report, 2019, STDA) which means there is much potential with Indian travellers and the rest of Asia. Manike Hithe mage trendsetting song is just an example of futuristic scenario planning for the Tourism industry in Sri Lanka. This opportunity can be diversified into many areas such as the digital music industry, women empowerment, creative industries etc..
